Snivley Hot Springs
Snively Hot Springs is a small hot spring in southeastern Oregon between Adrian and the Owyhee Reservoir. I drove past this location for decades before stopping and enjoying the natural hot tub. While driving along the river to Owyhee Reservoir, there are very clear signs indicating the location of the hot springs.
Each time I have visited this hot spring its configuration has changed somewhat. Visitors tend to build soaking pools that best meet their personal needs by simply rearranging the rocks. There is room in the hot springs for maybe 6 to 10 soakers at a time. The bench was there some of times I visited.
There is a large parking area with outhouses and trash receptacles. This is a very popular location for partiers who often have a tendency to trash the area. As a result, the BLM has designatet the the hot spring is open for use only during the daytime hours.
There are very nice, dispersed campsites along the Owyhee River upstream of the hot springs.
Safety notice:
The hot springs are VERY hot; dangerously hot. Test the water before entering. Pool temperatures can be controlled by mixing with river water.
Due to the partying which occurs here, we have found broken glass in the pool on multiple occasions. Wear shoes and check where you are sitting carefully.
Please help pick up the trash in the area so the hot spring is not closed by the BLM. I would encourage wearing disposable surgical type gloves or a "Reacher Grabber" tool for handling the trash. Some of it is pretty disgusting.
