Leslie Gulch and Succor Creek

At the very far east side of Oregon just southwest of Adrian is Leslie Gulch.  This small area is abounding with beautiful rock formations with easy, fun hiking trails meandering through the rocks.

The access to Leslie Gulch is a good all-season road.

Drive south of Marsing, Idaho on US 95.  Approximately 2.2 miles after crossing into Oregon, turn right on the road heading west.

After 6.2 miles you arrive at the site of where the town of Rockville, Oregon was situated.   Continue an additional 1.9 miles and you reach the Rockville, Oregon school.

Turn left at the school.  Within 0.3 miles, take the road to the right which is the direction to Succor Creek.

After 0.3 miles, turn left.  After 10.3 miles you will arrive at the Yellow Jacket trail head.

Note that if you drive an additional 3.7 miles you will arrive at a amall and simple campground located on the Owyhee Reservoir.

Cougar track, we saw tracks from 3 different cougars on this hike (different sized tracks)

Return to the Rockville School and turn left.  Drive 10.3 miles and arrive at the Succor Creek State Park.  This area is world renown for high quality thundereggs and geodes.   There is evidence of significant digging from folks looking for these gems.
