Glass Buttes, Oregon

About 30 miles west of Riley, Oregon off highway US 20 are two buttes known as Glass Buttes.  Obsidian can be found in abundance all over these two large hills.   Turn south onto any jeep trail heading up the buttes, drive up the hillside, and start collecting obsidian.

There are multiple kinds of obsidian in this location including: black, brown, and rainbow obsidian.  There are locations where folks have created their own mines.  Please do not interrupt these folks, there are many, many places to search.  Have fun.
