Fourth of July Lake
The Fourth of July Lake is in the Stanley Valley between Stanley and the Galena Summit.
From Stanley, travel south on US 75 for about 15 miles. The Fourth of July Road is signed and intersects the highway. The road becomes gravel at this point (see above photography).
Turn left (east) and drive an additional 10 miles to a trailhead parking lot. It is an additional 1.1 mile hike to the Fourth of July Lake. This is a very easy hike with a couple of minor stream crossings.
If you continue on this trail another mile, you will reach Washington Lake.
Fourth of July Lake sits at 9,365 feet elevation. The ridge behind the lake in the photo below is at 11,000 feet elevation. Take your time walking, this is high country!
Due to the elevation of the lake, this trip will only be accessible from mid-July to mid-October.
